FAQs

How do I know which adaptations I need?

Our friendly team are here to help so please give us a call and we can discuss the different options that are available to you. We have a demonstration vehicle which is fitted with many of the most common adaptations.

For anyone driving with adaptations for the first time, we always recommend a professional driving assessment. We are happy to put you in touch with your nearest driving assessment centre.

Do I need to make an appointment?

An appointment isn't always necessary, however if you wish to discuss adaptations and would like a demonstration, it is always best to call us in advance so that we can make sure someone will be here to help you.

If you wish to view scooters, wheelchairs or accessories, you are welcome to call into our showroom at any time.

Do you have wheelchair accessible facilities?

Our facilities are all on the ground floor. There is a level parking area to the front of our building accessible by an automatic door.

We have a showroom/waiting room, disabled toilet and kitchen on site.

Bell Mills Garden Centre and cafe is just a short walk away, alternatively the town centre is only a 10 minute walk. We are able to lend you a scooter or wheelchair for the day if necessary.

Will I have to pay Vat on your goods and services?

You will not have to pay Vat if you are ‘chronically sick or disabled’ and the goods or services are for your own personal or domestic use. A person is ‘chronically sick or disabled’ if he or she is a person: with a physical or mental impairment which has a long term and substantial adverse effect upon his or her ability to carry out everyday activities with a condition which the medical profession treats as a chronic sickness It does not include an elderly person who is not disabled or chronically sick or any person who is only temporarily disabled or incapacitated, such as with a broken limb. If you are unsure, you should seek guidance from your GP or other medical professional.

You can find out more from the help sheets on the GOV.UK website or by telephoning the VAT Disabled Reliefs Helpline on Telephone: 0300 123 1073. https://www.gov.uk/government/collections/vat-reliefs-for-charities-disabled-and-older-people

Do you stock all the wheelchairs and scooters shown on your website?

Whilst we try to stock a wide variety of products it would be impossible for us to stock them all. If you have a particular product in mind please give us a call and we will do our best to arrange a product demonstration within a few days.

I am getting my vehicle on the Motability Scheme. How do I order my adaptations?

Before you order your new vehicle please get in touch with us to discuss your requirements. We can advise you as to which vehicles are the most suitable and we will liaise with the car dealership to ensure the correct adaptations are fitted and the whole process runs as smoothly as possible.
